The EMEA Awards Ceremony is webcast live on February 17 at 16h00 Barcelona time (15h00 GMT / 10am EST)
I arrived in Barcelona yesterday. I made it to Millau, France late on Thursday night having ridden all the way from London. Birkett Enterprise is participating in the NAVTEQ Global LBS challenge and today is the ‘Contestant Luncheon and Rehersal’

On the way to Barcelona at le Viaduc de Millau
On Monday I began a motorcycle ride from Burton-on-Trent to Barcelona for GSMA Mobile World Congress. My Nokia N95 screen stopped working because it got wet in the rain and my motorcycle broke down on Marylebone road in London. It took the RAC 6 hours to recover my bike. When they finally arrived around 11pm they dropped and damaged it loading it onto a flat bed truck.

It is now 6:20AM on Thursday and with the bike serviced and a repaired clutch I’m leaving London. I hope to be in Millau in France by late this evening. Watch me ride here:

Phonelocator has been selected as a semi finalist in the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge. As NAVTEQ put it, “The NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge continues to be the symbol of innovation in the mobile LBS space by shining a spotlight on its most talented developers and entrepreneurs.”
NAVTEQ has invited Birkett Enterprise to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress where phonelocator will be pitted against the other semi finalists (see here). An overall winner will be selected for the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region.
I’ve just added an embedded map feature to phonelocator. It is now possible to add your location to your website or blog like this:
The url to embed
is http://phonelocator.mobi/embeddedmap?login=<your user name>.
My user name is alexb so I have embedded: http://phonelocator.mobi/embeddedmap?login=alexb
You can use an iframe to embed the url like this, adjust the width and height as you wish:
<iframe src="http://phonelocator.mobi/embeddedmap?login=alexb" width="640" height="480"> Alternative text for browsers that do not understand IFrames.</iframe>
Only phones that have their position set to public will be displayed.
I’ve added phonelocator to O2 Litmus and Vodafone’s Betavine. Both services allow users to upload and download applications for mobile phones in a similar way to Nokia Mosh. Betavine allows users to tag, report feedback and review applications. Applicaiton authors can also blog using the site. The site will also push links to install applications to users’ hansets via sms. O2 Litmus allows application authors to sell their applications but unfortunatley only to O2 customers.

I’ll be at the ‘Eventing with S60‘ on Monday night (20th October) and the Symbian Smartphone Show on Tuedsday (21st October) . Hope to see you there!
